Introduction

Climate change is the most serious environmental threat now and for the years to come. Hence, an urgent need to switch to alternate energy sources. Among these energy sources, wave energy is considered as the most promising because it has a high availability factor, (day and night) compared with solar energy and a high density factor, as water is 800 times more dense than the air. New studies conclude that the wave energy could be cheaper and easier to harvest than wind energy, because winds can die down, while the waves continue. This kinetic power of the sea surface can provide a simple solution to two Universal problems, Energy and Environment.
Although the environmental impact of wind energy is lower than that of the conventional energy sources, there are still impacts upon the landscape, on bird life, noise and electromagnetic interference. Also wind turbines are large machines based on the top of very high steel towers and can not be hidden in the landscape.
